The Tenth Commandment forbids coveting. It is a prohibition on inward sin. This makes it the Impossible Commandment. For fallen human nature is incapable of consistent pure motives and desires. Thank God that Jesus died to forgive our sins--inward and outward, and that, through faith in Christ, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit's presence and power within makes it possbile for us to say 'No' to temptation and evil desires, and 'Yes" to His call to righteousness.
